NEW FOR 2008! Due to our wonderfully structured facilities, well organized programs and our incorporation of extensive safety measures, the Department of Health and our private insurance company have awarded Crstwood the right to issue 4 COLLEGE CREDITS (applied to your home college) to students who successfully complete our new Summer 2008 Leadership/Study Program. Administered through the fully accredited Touro College, the course consists primarily of the 8 week experience of working with children as well as various written assignments and scheduled supervisory meetings throughout the summer. We are pleased and excited to be able to offer this unique leadership experience to our valued staff!

Apprentice Program

Work Experience for Teens Entering Grades 10 through 12. Crestwood's policy of hiring the most mature staff for its children leaves many teens who have been part of our renowned recreational programs wondering how they can be a part of Crestwood after they are too old for Teen Travel but not quite old enough to be a counselor. Our Apprentice Program offers an exceptional program for these youngsters. This program offers several different work experiences as they develop leadership skills with children designed to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of teenagers.

Specialty Apprentices

learn and develop skills in a particular area such as arts and crafts, jewelry making, aerobics, cheerleading, gymnastics, drama, archery, woodworking, golf, tennis, hockey, swim, dance and nature. In addition to assisting the specialists who supervise them, these apprentices are treated weekly to an off grounds trip.

Office/General Apprentices

have a variety of assignments such as keeping records for the nurses, distributing towels and snacks, delivering messages and lost and found items, as well as aiding the office staff in a variety of clerical duties.

Pool Records Apprentices

are assigned to the pool to assist in the record keeping of swim levels and changes in swim groups.

Nurses Apprentices

are assigned to the Nurses office. They aid in keeping office records for the nurses which are reviewed by the N.Y.S. Department of Health.

Athletic Apprentices

are assigned to our Athletic Director to assist in distributing the sports equipment, assisting with the weekly sports clinics, as well as lining the fields.

Pony Apprentices

give pony rides to Crestwood's youngest children. They are also responsible for feeding and grooming the ponies in their care.

This apprentice program offers our teens the unique experience of working for the summer combined with use of the exceptional Crestwood facilities during their break periods.
