Healthy and Delicious
Lunch Time is a favorite time for our campers and staff thanks to our wide variety of hot lunch choices and daily substitutes. Lunch is served family style by a service oriented and courteous wait staff. The children may always have as many helpings as it takes to satisfy their appetite.
Some of our popular lunches include: Pizza, Honey-Dipped Chicken, Turkey Meatball Hero, Popcorn Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Breakfast Day (Waffles and French Toast), Chicken Tenders, Grilled Cheese, and Lo mein & Eggrolls. If the hot lunch of the day is not to your child’s liking, the following options are available every day: Turkey Sandwich, Tuna Sandwich, Egg Salad Sandwich, Soy-nut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Cheese Sandwich, Grilled Cheese, Plain Pasta, Hot Dog, Hamburger, Grilled Chicken, Veggie Burger, Yogurt, and Bagels. Fresh tossed salad, daily vegetable and fresh fruit is served at every meal.
Group staff sit with the campers during lunch and will make sure every child finds something they like and is completely satisfied.
Nutrition plays a big part in our lunch program. Our meals average well below the 30% recommendation for calories from fat, for example, our frankfurters have 30% less fat than regular beef hot dogs, the mayonnaise is low fat with no cholesterol and fresh fruit is always on the table. We serve natural, 100% real fruit juices and skim milk (whole milk is available by request). We use canola oil and no trans fats when offering anything fried, and employ many other measures to ensure your child is eating healthy.
One of our weekly highlights and a Crestwood tradition is the Crestwood cook-out. One day each week, campers have lunch at our cook-out site where they enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, and grilled chicken. At cookout, each group celebrates special events including camper birthdays.

Twice each day, groups take a snack break. In the morning, this includes 100% fruit juice and for younger campers a variety of light snacks such as animal crackers, pretzels or wheat thins. In the afternoon, each group enjoys either a delicious ice cream or ices treat.
Crestwood was the first camp on Long Island to go “Peanut-Free”. We have always been committed to being an inclusive environment and will go to extreme lengths to work with any dietary or medical concern. Our success in creating a safe and fun environment for children with potentially life-threatening medical issues is due to our mature and experienced staff. In order for us to be able to take care of your child’s specific needs, it is best that all medical and dietary issues are discussed with one of the camp directors prior to enrolling. Please do not hesitate to call one of us.
