Week 8 was an extremely exciting and eventful week, and the perfect way to close out what has truly been a wonderful summer of 2013.
The week was kick started with two thrilling days of Crestwood Games. The kids from both the Green and White teams joyfully competed in many athletic and aquatic events, as well as team spirit competitions, and when all was said and done they received extra bonus points for their sportmanship. Both teams were so closely matched that the nail bitting, back and forth scoring continued all the way through to the Crestwood Games Closing Ceremony. As the children cheered on their counselors, the final outcome came down to the Captain's Challenge. Yet, even then the competition seemed like it was never going to come to an end. After the Sumo Wrestling and Jousting events, as well as a game of Musical Chairs the entire competition was so close that if came down to a best of three Tug of War. The counselors from the Green and White Team battled back and forth as the children chanted and cheered them on. And when the dust finally settled it was the White Team who pulled out the last second win to become the 2013 Crestwood Game Champions. The two teams then celebrated a great two days of competition by joining together in an impromptu dance party.
On Wednesday, the party continued as the pools of Crestwood were transformed into our very own water park during Water Carnival. The kids had a splashing good time trying a multitude of different water activities and rides during both swims.
While swim became the coolest place to be at Crestwood, our stage and amphitheater hosted the greatest talent show on Long Island. Crestwood Idol was a huge success and the performers were outstanding.
On Thursday, everybody showed their group spirit during Group T-Shirt Day, and got one last chance to hangout and play with their summer friends. The end of summer at Crestwood is always difficult, but the memories will last a lifetime.
