This simple statement has been the driving force behind Crestwood’s mission since 1956 and perfectly describes the Crestwood culture today. The camp experience should offer more than just fun and safety. We believe in making a difference in the life of each child every summer at Crestwood. It is the goal of our staff to get to know your child as an individual so that together we can help him or her reach new heights every summer.
“Both of my children had a wonderful summer. They loved everything they did. Their swimming skills improved by leaps and bounds.” —The B. Family (Bellmore)
“Once again I must thank you for the complete turn around for my daughter. For a girl who disliked every camp she has attended since she was five years old and kept trying to find excuses to stay home from camp, now, she wakes up early and stands outside for 20 minutes waiting for the bus to come. I keep asking her what makes this place so different, and finally , she said ”Everyone really cares about you; it makes you feel special.” Wow!!! I truly am grateful to you for running such an exceptional program, for nurturing kids spirits, as well as their athletic abilities, for giving my daughter the best summer of her life (her words, not mine) and for allowing me to finally have some long awaited peace of mind." —Mrs. Cupani (Jericho)
“The bus counselor was terrific. He really got Brooke laughing and calm on mornings when she was having separations “issues”. Thrilled with the swim lifeguards/program, Brooke made so much progress.” —The Bier Family (Woodbury)
“The second you walk onto the property, the positive energy is everywhere. Cori tried new things, made new friends and was happy (and tired) all summer!!” —The Dauman Family (Old Bethpage)
“The ‘Cinderella Team’ made Crestwood the appropriate place for my oldest… your strong drama team made me realize the true well-roundedness of Crestwood.” —The Hausman Family (Syosset)
“From the moment I dropped the children off, I was blown away by the organization and welcome feeling I got immediately from everyone. I returned for the separate visiting sessions and I was treated from the first moment with the most welcoming feeling and the utmost respect. The entire staff could not have been more accommodating to my every need! Both sets of counselors were professional and provide an outstanding nurturing environment that fosters fun underscored by the right amount of control and discipline. It is apparent not only from the glowing (and exhausted) reports I get each day, but from watching the children yesterday, that they are having an outstanding summer. For this I am truly grateful!” —The T. Family (Melville)
Our staff receive so many wonderful, heartfelt letters from parents. Here are just a few:
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for a wonderful summer! You truly recognized and appreciated what and who Scott is. He grew so much this summer and for the most part couldn’t wait to go to Crestwood each morning. Good luck to you in the future.
All the best,
The K Family (Merrick)
Many thanks again. You have really helped a lot in building up Brian’s self esteem, which was very low at the beginning of the summer. It takes a man like you with all your patience, caring and giving which not too many people have. All your notes and calls on the phone sure made a difference and you proved to me you are the greatest person to be around children. He has come home smiling and full of good things to tell us at home. It only took a little tender, love, and care, that meant a lot.
Always the best,
The Puglisi Family (North Babylon)
I can’t even begin to thank you for all you did for Bobby this summer. You successfully executed a tough challenge, which exceeded standards. Bobby had the best summer of his life. He enjoyed every aspect of camp; the sports, the friendships he made, the teamwork, the food (he loves to eat!), and most importantly his counselors. All of you made each and everyone of the Hogan's feel special. You truly created a wonderful group. He doesn’t want camp to end. One of my goals for this summer was to have Bobby in a fun, structured program before he started Kindergarten so that he would be ready. Not only were my goals met, I feel that there would not have been any other program that could have compared to Crestwood, not even close. And I owe it all to you and the rest of the Hogan's Counselors.
Mrs. K (Syosset)
Words are not enough to Thank You. Zachary and I wouldn’t have made it through the summer without you. I applaud your maturity, patience and understanding in helping me get Zach on the bus. It was tough, but seeing him come home singing songs and with a proud look made it worthwhile.
Thanks so much,
The Rispler Family (Plainview)
There are simply not enough words to express how much we appreciate your warm loving care, interest and insight with regard to Gabrielle. As this was her first camp experience we were unsure as to how she would approach her days at Crestwood. Because of your attention and sensitivity toward her, she was able to grow and flourish this summer. For this we are most grateful. We will miss you and truly hope to see you next summer at Crestwood.
