Summer Camp 2021 Update

Dear Crestwood Families,

Last year, 2020, was a tough year and the start of 2021 has not been any easier.  We know what everyone is thinking – WHEN WILL SUMMER BE HERE?!!!

We are here to assure you there will be a summer in 2021 and there is no better place for your children to be than at Crestwood Day Camp.  None of us knew what to expect entering into the 2020 Camp Season, but this past summer was overwhelmingly fun, safe and a life-saver for so many of us. Bottom line – it was MAGICAL.  As important as camp was for children in 2020, it may be even more important for kids this summer.

We are still months away from Opening Day at camp.  Our expectation this summer is for our local communities to once again have low rates of COVID, hopefully even better than last summer thanks to the vaccine.  This would mean an even better, more fun and equally safe (we would say “safer” but it’s hard to beat a perfect record) summer than in 2020.  It could also mean the addition of some aspects of camp that we didn’t see in 2020, including bus service, some trips for older campers, slightly larger groups for elementary age campers with additional staff, two swim periods per day for full day campers, more special event entertainment, and most importantly COOK-OUT!!!

What exactly will camp look like this summer?  We would all love to know the answers to these questions NOW, but it is simply too early to tell.  CAMP WILL BE OPEN, but we need to allow time for our communities to be safe again and for New York State to give us the important updates for operating this summer.   COVID has taught us that it is to our benefit to be flexible and understanding.  As we did heading into last summer, we will continue to communicate with all of our families about the summer, be open to your feedback and suggestions, and will be fair when it comes to program and registration changes that we ultimately make for the well-being and safety of our camp community.

We can’t thank our families enough for your continued confidence and loyalty.  We are seeing an increase in overall interest in camp at Crestwood and an increase in enrollment for the coming summer.  Based on expected New York State guidance, it is likely that we will need to stop accepting new camper sign-ups this Spring.  If you or any of your friends have been debating signing up for camp, now is the time to act.  If you have any questions about camp this summer, please call us and we will do our best to answer you with as much information that we have at this time.  We are available for personal tours at camp on the weekends (by appointment only) or if preferred we can schedule a “Virtual Tour” with one of our Camp Directors any day of the week.

Finally, if your family is enrolled for the 2021 Summer Season, you will be receiving an invoice in the coming days by email.  Your attention is most appreciated and should you have any questions our office staff or one of us are happy to assist you.  We hope that your family has had a good year and we wish you continued health and safety.
